On Monday, October 20th, many JASNA members attended Lisa White's lecture, which was held at the UCLA Faculty Center. A reception preceded the lecture. Program Highlights: Margery Rich, longtime JASNA-SW member, gave a fascinating talk on Pride and Prejudice as a detective novel. Lynda Hall from Chapman University gave us a new perspective on Austen's most controverisal work with “Addressing Readerly Unease: Discovering the Gothic in Mansfield Park.” There was also a special, audience-participation event that explored "our mysterious longing for Jane Austen."
