At the Seaside with Jane Austen
Save 19 May 2012 for a seaside holiday with Jane Austen at the beautiful Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, site of the historic Marion Davies Beach House. Presentations planned include: "The Houses of Jane Austen in Fact and Fiction" by Iris Lutz, the current president of the Jane Austen Society of North America. A talk about the seaside in Jane Austen's life and fiction by Diana Birchall. "Plucking a Rose under the Crescent Moon," a talk about waste management in Regency times by Jan Fahey. A talk about Julia Morgan, the architect who designed the Beach House by Christy McAvoy . |
